CORE THEMES

Subjectivity

Subjective lived experience refers to the first-person, personal, and individual perspective through which individuals perceive, interpret, and make sense of the world around them. It encompasses the thoughts, emotions, sensations, and perceptions that an individual experiences and is deeply influenced by their unique history, beliefs, values, and cultural context.

Subjective lived experience acknowledges the subjective nature of human consciousness and highlights the fact that each person's experience of the world is inherently personal and cannot be fully captured or understood by

an external observer.

It recognizes that individuals have their own subjective realities, which may differ from one another even in seemingly similar situations.

This concept is often studied and explored in fields such as psychology, philosophy, and phenomenology, where researchers aim to understand the rich tapestry of human experience and how it shapes an individual's understanding of themselves, others, and the world.

Subjective lived experience plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions, motivations, decision-making, and overall well-being. It encompasses a wide range of dimensions, including emotions, sensory perceptions, beliefs, values, memories, and self-reflection. It is also closely linked to the concept of consciousness and the subjective awareness of being.

Recognizing and valuing subjective lived experience is important for promoting empathy, understanding, and effective communication among individuals. It reminds us

that each person has their own unique perspective and encourages us to approach others with openness, curiosity, and respect for their individual experiences.
